Polish volleyball players played against Canada in the League of Nations. Although the opponent is a lower rank, he is very inconvenient and you need to sweat to triumph. On Saturday, the wards of Nikola Grbic found out about this.
In the penultimate match of the third week of the League of Nations, Polish volleyball players, weakened by injuries to Kurek and Bienek, met with Canada. The favorites in this meeting were, of course, the Polish volleyball players, but Canada, which occupies one of the last places in the Nations League table, is a very uncomfortable opponent, moreover, the coach of this team is Tuomas Sammelvuo, who recently achieved success with ZAKSA in the domestic and international markets.
League of Nations: Strong Polish finish
In this match, Nikola Grbic bet on the following line-up: Lomac, Slivka, Kaczmarek, Huber, Klos, Semenyuk, Popivchak. Although it seemed that the Poles should quickly take the lead, this did not happen. Both teams went to each other until the score was 8:8. Then two good actions in a row were carried out by the Canadians, who jumped two points.
Fortunately, Byalo-Chervoni quickly leveled the score (13:13), and with the result of 16:16 it was our players who began to increase their advantage. As a result, out of seven actions, the Poles won five, which allowed them to win 25:21 in the first set.
The Poles missed a huge advantage
In the second set, the Poles began to increase their advantage only after a 6:6 draw. Wards of Nikola Grbic won three fights in a row. Although the Canadians responded with two points, the White-Reds eventually retained this three-point advantage and began to build it up.
In the first part of this game, our players had an advantage over the Canadians by five “points” (14:9). Despite such a high margin, in the end it turned out very nervously. The opponents made up for this loss with a score of 20:20, but, fortunately for the white-reds, this set ended with a score of 25:23.
Awakening Canada in the third set
In the third set, the Canadians began to catch up. Tuomas Sammelvuo’s wards took the lead by two points from the very beginning (2:4), and then doubled it (9:13). In this game, the “white-red” seemed to be stuck - they could not complete the attack and there were problems with the reception. The Canadians, on the other hand, did almost everything, from serving to situational passes and sacrificial defenses.
The picture of the game changed a little when Wilfredo Leon and Marcin Janusz entered the field. Wards Nikola Grbic made up for the loss. In the end, Bartosz Bednorz came out to serve, who contributed to catching up a few points - 20:21. After Bednorz, Wilfredo Leon scored in the serve box, which gave us a draw 22:22. In the final phase of this set, Norbert Huber scored a point with a blocked shot and gave us 24 points. This set was played in favor, and as a result, the Poles won 27:25, and in the whole match 3:0.
