In Russia, less than ten days have passed since a large-scale fire at an enterprise in Nizhny Novgorod, as another high-profile emergency occurred. In Chapaevsk, Samara region, a powerful explosion occurred at a plant for the production of chemical products and explosives. Local authorities reported the death of six people. Two more were injured. The cause of the explosion has not yet been disclosed.
The press service of the ICR department in the Samara region reported that representatives of the investigating authorities had left for the scene.
The plant is owned by JSC Promsintez, established in 1997 as an enterprise for the production of explosives on the basis of the Samara Sergeev Plant. The company positions itself as one of the main manufacturers of explosives in Russia and the CIS. The plant in Chapaevsk produces, in particular, nitrobenzene, TNT and ammonal.
According to some reports, the detonation occurred during work on the pipeline in the production workshop. State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein argues that the pipes could have left the remains of explosives, which caused the emergency.
Meanwhile, drones continue to attack the territory of the aggressor country, and Russian ammunition depots are blown up in the temporarily occupied settlements of Donbass and southern Ukraine.
