President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree appointing Andriy Kostin as the new Prosecutor General.

This is stated on the website of the head of the Ukrainian state.

“To appoint Andrey Evgenyevich Kostin as Prosecutor General,” the document says.

The decree was signed on Thursday, July 28.

As you know, on July 27, the Verkhovna Rada supported the appointment of a new Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Andriy Kostin. On July 19, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dismissed Irina Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General. 264 people’s deputies voted for this decision.

Recall, on July 17, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy removed Irina Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General and removed Ivan Bakanov, head of the Security Service of Ukraine, from his duties. The President explained his decision by mass cases of high treason and collaborationism in the ranks of these departments.

By the way, Congresswoman Victoria Spartz sent a new letter to US President Joe Biden, in which she called for attention to recent events in Ukraine, including additional concerns about the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak. In particular, she believes that the prosecutor general controlled by Yermak can sabotage the work of the SAP.
