Considering how much Cavill has grown into the role and brought it to life, it will certainly be a challenge if another actor plays the part. Despite no official explanation for Cavill’s departure, rumors and reports suggest that the actor has decided to step aside because the show has moved too far away from Andrzej Sapkowskithe books on which it is based. In anticipation of the third part of the showrunner of the series Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, in an interview with Total Film defended the decision to recast Geralt, stating that there were many stories left to tell. “We had a choice: leave Geralt and end the show,” Hissrich said. “But that’s not what we wanted to do. Too many stories left to tell. If we were to replace Geralt with another Witcher, we would move away from the books entirely, and I don’t think anyone wanted that. .”

Cavill is an “important part of the show”

Before Cavill leaves as Geralt, Ciri is haunted by a new looming threat in the form of the Wild Hunt (Freya Allan), and the monster slayer and his beloved Yennefer of Vengerberg must ensure the safety of the princess (Anya Chalotra). Despite Geralt playing a critical role in keeping Ciri alive on the show, Chalotra commented on Cavill’s upcoming departure, calling it “an important part of the show” and saying, “The news was… yeah, it’s hard to accept because he’s a key part of the show, and we all adore him.
