Automotive market experts note an increase in demand in the European market for electric vehicles.
Meanwhile, cars with internal combustion engines are also not losing ground.
JATO Dynamics data shows that fewer Chinese-made vehicles were sold in Europe last month than some might suspect. Indeed, vehicles made in China accounted for just 3.4% of the market, with a total of just over 32,000 units.
The most sold model in April was Dacia Sandero. Other top sellers were VW T-Roc, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, Renault Clio and Peugeot 208.
Other bestsellers include Fiat/Abarth 500, Toyota Yaris Cross, VW Golf, Dacia Duster, Skoda Octavia, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and Ford Puma.

The Tesla Model Y remains the most popular electric vehicle. The next best-selling electric vehicle was the VW ID.4 and VW ID.3, up 259% from last April.
Rounding out the top ten best-selling electric vehicles are Skoda Enyaq iV, Dacia Spring, MG 4, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Fiat 500e, Peugeot e-208 and Renault Megane E-Tech.
In terms of plug-in hybrids, the top sellers were Ford Kuga, Volvo XC60, Lynk & Co 01, Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson.
Volkswagen remains the best-selling brand in Europe. Audi came in second, ahead of Toyota, Renault and BMW. VW is also the best-selling electric vehicle, selling a total of 31,900 compared to Tesla’s 14,200.
