Branden Fraser and Marseille, Shell is in full swing right now. While Fraser is nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actor category for his heartbreaking performance in WHALE, Marseille Shell in shoes nominated for Best Animated Film. Both Marcel and Frazier were highly regarded by their peers and fans for their off-the-wall performances, as well as for melting people’s hearts. A24 recently released excerpts from Zoom ahead of Oscar Marcel with his colleague Frazier, a first-time nominee.
In Marcel’s sweetest conversation, voiced by Jenny SlateFrazier says, “Wow! You really made me cry my eyes out and I just cried my fucking eyes out. My heart, my heart really hurt a lot, but I also felt like I could actually feel it. It’s like what you hope when you go to the movies, that an actor will make you remember that your heart is there.” As Fraser listens to the sink, he said, “When I saw your movie, it made me think about how important it is to know who your friends are and how important it is to have a home. I think that’s something we can all agree on.” Marcel remarks on their performances: “The difference is that you have to memorize so many lines, and basically I spoke kind of at random.”
“Marseille the Shell in the Shoes” and “The Whale’s Journey to Oscar”
IN Darren AronofskyX WHALEFraser plays a morbidly obese, reclusive English professor who is at serious risk of congestive heart failure. In his last few days, he tries to make amends with his estranged teenage daughter Ellie, played by Sadie Sink, in an attempt to find out that he did at least one thing in his life right. Frazier’s heartbreaking performance moved fans and critics to tears. The film has been hailed as his comeback and started a “Brenessance” among fans. Frazier also had excellent film festival performances, often answering ovations with tears in his eyes. For this role, he received the Hollywood Critics Association Award for Best Actor, the Satellite Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award, among many others.
Marseille Shell in shoeson the other hand, is based on a series of short films of the same name written by Slate and Dean Fleischer camp and was also a critical darling that season. The live-action, stop-motion animated comedy-drama also marks Camp’s directorial debut. It’s a touching story as Marcel deals with millions of passionate fans, hoping to be reunited with his long-lost family. This season, the film has received a lot of accolades, and the Oscar win will only add to its long list of accomplishments.
