The 2023 superhero calendar has officially kicked off and the next stop on the comic book train is Shazam! Fury of the gods in March. Continuation of the beloved 2019 Shazam! based on the DC comic book character of the same name and again directed by the director David F. Sandberg and starring Zachary Levy, see how the Shazam family will fight the daughters of Atlas. Now, a newly released ScreenX poster further teases the upcoming electric battle of the beloved DC family.
The poster, published exclusively by Screen Rant, features Levi’s Shazam and Djimon Hounsouheroic Wizard, surrounded by the villainous daughters of Atlas, composed of Lucy LiuCalypso, Helen MirrenHesperus and Rachel ZeglerAnthea. The atmosphere of the poster is perfect for viewing on ScreenX, showing a gloomy and hazy sunset with a few of the character’s characteristic lightning strikes.
What is the plot of “The Fury of the Gods”?
Fury of the gods begins after the events of the first Shazam! with Billy and his foster family adjusting to their new superhero realities. All seems to be going well until the Daughters of Atlas, the original characters created for the film, show up wanting the power of Shazam. A power they claim rightfully belongs to their godly father. This causes tension in the Shazam family as the demigod sisters restore the Wizard’s staff that Billy broke in the first film. The sisters are slowly regaining their powers leading to Shazam! it would seem that he is the only one left to stop them and restore his family’s strength.
That’s all we know a month before the movie’s release, but for now, the trailers are a bigger and better adventure that retains the essence of the original movie. This is what made us fall in love with the wacky world of Shazam in the first place. The action, in particular, looks spectacular, aspect Shazam! this was greatly underestimated as DC’s pantheon of gods was expanded and dragons and unicorns added to the joy. The stakes seem higher than ever as Calypso and Hespera are unwilling to take prisoners. However, the key to victory may lie with Antea, who hopes to develop a close relationship with Freddy in the film.
