It’s time for #encoRRRe SS Rajamouliglobal success of the film RRR. Starting March 3rd, the original version of the Telugu action-adventure film will return to US theaters as part of the Fan CelebRRRation, courtesy of Variance Films, Beyond Fest, American Cinematheque, Potentate and Sarigama Cinemas. Before heading to the rest of the states, it all kicks off on March 1st with a special screening touted as the world’s biggest screening. RRR takes place at The Theater at Ace Hotel with a special performance by Rajamouli, the film’s composer. MM Kiravaanisuperstar Ram Charanand other special guests will be announced later.
The celebration marks an unprecedented third return to theaters for RRR less than a year after release. Previously, Variance Films, Sarigama Cinemas and Potentate teamed up for what was originally intended to be a “last chance” to see the film before it leaves theaters for good on June 1st. This time, Variance and Sarigama will be responsible for getting the film to more than 200 theaters across the country, from huge megaplexes in big cities to small arthouse cinemas.
RRR Definitely deserves a third showing in theaters. The film industry and critics and fans alike praise the Telugu film as the pinnacle of cinema, full of catchy songs, pompous action scenes and heartfelt enough to keep audiences hooked on the story of two close-knit Indian revolutionaries. Komaram Bhim And Alluri Sitarama Raju portrayed NT Rama Rao Jr. and Charan, respectively. Even the legendary director Steven Spielberg was in seventh heaven from the movie. Fan CelebRRRation will also be a win lap of sorts for the film’s awards season. While the film may have been rejected due to a number of award talks including Best Picture, it will have one shot at Oscar gold thanks to Kirawaani’s infectious “Naatu Naatu”. And that’s not counting a host of other awards, including two Critics Choice Awards and a Golden Globe, among many other local awards.
Co-founder of Beyond Fest Christian parks was delighted to provide fans with a new opportunity to experience the epic in Telugu, stating in an official statement:
“Since our first RRR show over eight months ago, we have watched Rajamouli’s epic break down cultural barriers and become a global phenomenon. Being able to stage the biggest screening of a film at the original United Artists Theatre, one of the mainstays of theatrical storytelling, is supremely poetic and perfect for celebrating this contemporary masterpiece.”
What is Rajamouli RRR Everything about?
RRR this is Rajamouli’s idea of what might have happened if the famous revolutionaries Bheem and Raju had met in their lifetime. The result is a pompous action buddy who sees the two form a close bond as they plan to oppose the ruling British Raj in 1920 while initially unaware of each other’s opposite personalities. The revolutionary battle of these two heroes is also not over, as Rajamouli has a sequel in development with the screenwriter. V. Vijaendra Prasad on board to help bring it to life.
Showings for one night only RRR will begin at 7:30 pm on March 1 at The Theater at Ace Hotel in Los Angeles, with the film rolling across the rest of the country starting March 3.
