For several months now, there have been no bottles of quick-acting (so-called one-day) juices from Marwit in the refrigerators of grocery stores. How is it that a company that at its peak had a 70% stake in this market expired today?
The website pomorska.pl recalls that the Marwit brand was founded in 1993 and began with the delivery of only 600 bottles of juice per day in Toruń. Over time, the company expanded and consistently expanded its customer base, so that over time it fell far behind any competitors. The streak of good luck was interrupted in 2021, when production began to wind down. Since 2022, not a single bottle has left the factory. “Due to the withdrawal of a potential investor from negotiations, the debtor company lost the prospect of restoring production and, consequently, continuing its economic activity,” writes pomorska.pl.
Marvit disappeared from stores
In July 2021, the District Court in Toruń declared the bankruptcy of Marwit sp.z oo, and in December 2021 Marwit Foods sp.z oo, and appointed legal adviser Sylvester Zenka from the law firm Zięciak & Associates in Toruń as an insolvency representative.
Today, Marwit is almost PLN 97 million in debt, while Marwit Foods is PLN 86 million.
Marwit is up for sale, and apparently there is no shortage of buyers. “Interest in acquiring Marwit plants is high, we have been contacted by about 10 potential investors, including one from abroad,” says Justyna Kubiak, office manager of Zięciak&Współpracownikow, quoted by spozywczy.pl.
