The owner of the Twitter office in San Francisco is suing the company for non-payment of rent.
Office owner at 650 California St. claims that Elon Musk’s company did not pay $136,260 for the property’s rent. As we read in the lawsuit,
Twitter occupies a room on the 30th floor of the building. In December, the property owner announced that if the debt is not repaid within five working days, the contract will be terminated and a lawsuit will be filed.
Twitter has not yet commented on this issue.
Lawsuits against Twitter
This is not the first lawsuit against Twitter recently filed by companies trying to collect their debts from the social media giant.
In mid-December, a similar lawsuit was filed by a private jet rental company. According to the lawsuit, Twitter refused to pay the $197,725 bill. Private Jet Services Group says Twitter used charter services on two flights between New Jersey and San Francisco on October 26 and 27 for former company marketing director Leslie Burland.
According to Bloomberg, the director was fired in November when Musk fired about half of Twitter’s employees.
In November, The New York Times reported that some of the company’s vendors and suppliers were millions of dollars in debt. The publication reported that Musk’s employees said the company was not going to pay for the services because they were authorized by former management and not by Musk.
Musk cuts spending
Elon Musk has been working to cut costs at Twitter since he bought the company for $44 billion in October. Twitter hasn’t posted annual earnings since 2019.
