At the beginning of this year, the minimum wage increased by almost PLN 500. Due to high inflation, the national minimum will rise again this year.

From January 1, 2023, the minimum wage is PLN 3,490 gross, which means that it has increased by PLN 480 compared to last year. The minimum hourly rate from the new year is PLN 22.80.

Minimal salary. An increase of almost PLN 500

The Ministry of Family and Social Policy points out that the minimum wage plays a significant role in reducing income inequality and also protects workers from working below agreed rates.

- Due to the inflation caused by the Russian attack on Ukraine and the war that has been going on for almost a year, we have decided to significantly increase the minimum wage in 2023. From January 1 this year. the minimum wage has been increased to PLN 3,490. This is PLN 480 more than in the previous year. The minimum hourly rate increased to PLN 22.80 at the beginning of the year. - emphasizes the Minister of Family and Social Policy Marlena Malong, quoted in the message of the ministry.

Another raise in six months

Malong reminds that this year the minimum wage will rise again. This is due to high inflation. - I want to remind you that the next increase in the minimum wage awaits us on July 1 this year, then it will be 3,600 zł. This means an increase of PLN 590 and 19.6 percent. compared to the minimum wage in force in the previous year - lists the minister.

The minimum hourly rate will increase in early July this year. up to PLN 23.50.

The head of the Ministry of Family and Social Policy notes that the minimum wage in July will be more than twice as high as in 2015, when it was PLN 1,750 gross. “From the moment we assumed responsibility for the fate of the state, we said directly that our goal is to carry out reforms that will significantly improve the situation of workers. We want our employees to receive adequate remuneration. Our priorities don’t change - Malong emphasizes.

As a reminder, along with the minimum wage, other benefits calculated on its basis also increase, including severance pay in the event of a collective dismissal or termination of the contract by a company that employs at least 20 employees for reasons unrelated to the employee (for example, in the event of liquidation of his place of work), remuneration for idle time or allowance for night work.
