“I do not rule out that it will be a murder”: CIA ex-agent about the fate of dictator Putin

Must read

Former CIA counterintelligence chief James Olson sees only one way to end Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine: through the death or fall of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

“I think that the paths will be eliminated, - he said in an interview with the British newspaper The Sun. - I wouldn’t rule out murder.”

Accordingly, Olson believes there is a strong undercurrent of opposition to the Russian president in the army, intelligence agencies and among the oligarchs, as Putin’s security officer who fled to Turkey confirmed. Thus, according to him, the future of the tyrant depends on his success or failure in Ukraine.

“Putin is in the process of destroying Russia. If he stays in power, there will be a long war, because he will not surrender, James Olson warns. - But I don’t think the paths will remain in power. The Kremlin leader is in a hopeless situation. He miscalculated and overestimated the strength of the army and the effectiveness of his leadership.

According to Olson, there is a reason why support for the Kremlin dictator among the Russian population is declining.

“Putin is in the process of destroying Russia. I think that there are good Russians, patriotic Russians, who will decide: “Enough is enough.” The Russian people are suffering and losing people in the war. Putin is bleeding Russia, and he cannot do this forever.”

He sees further possible resistance among the generals fighting in Ukraine. They are “outraged by the tragic loss of life.”

According to him, the future of Russia will be bright when Putin is eliminated. However, Olson expressed concern if the president remains in power: he warned of an “extreme risk” of the war spreading beyond Ukraine. According to him, Putin wants to consolidate control over eastern Ukraine and take over Moldova.

Earlier talked about Putin’s reaction to Finland’s entry into NATO.
