In Ukrainian cities, a campaign is underway to dismantle monuments to Soviet and Russian figures. So, recently a bust of Alexander Pushkin was dismantled in Kharkov. One of these days, the dismantling of monuments to Pushkin, Lomonosov, Gorky and others will begin in the Dnieper.
As reported Mayor Boris Filatov, the city authorities have repeatedly appealed to the capital’s chiefs with a request to identify objects of cultural heritage and exclude monuments associated with the former USSR and the aggressor country from their list. But so far no decision has been made.
Therefore, today the executive committee of the Dnipro City Council independently decided to transfer the monuments to the territory of the Zoocontrol utility company.
“Let them stay there for now. They will be more whole”Filatov added.
Recall that in Odessa the city council supported the decision to dismantle and transfer the monuments to Catherine II and Alexander Suvorov. Monuments to the “Founders of Odessa” and Suvorov will be temporarily transferred to the Odessa Art Museum.
