Ukrainian drivers have always been of interest to European employers. With the beginning of the hot phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war and due to the conscription of Ukrainians into the army in Europe, and in Poland, in particular, there was a shortage of carriers.
But now drivers from Ukraine can go to Poland even if the documents expire, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland. The current shortage of drivers is at least 150 thousand people. This is reported by the local media
“Polish transport companies are experiencing a huge problem with a lack of drivers. This was influenced by the situation in Ukraine and the recall of thousands of drivers from work. Now the problem of driving licenses in Poland is becoming more and more common. Driver’s licenses issued by the competent authorities of Ukraine, which have expired, continue to be considered valid in Poland. The EU is working on a draft law on a temporary change in rules due to the war in Ukraine. Discuss the possibility of confirming the driver’s license data by the competent state authority of Ukraine issuing documents. For example, in the ACTION“.
According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, almost 5.7 million driver’s licenses were issued through the mobile application of the DIA civil portal. Although this application does not comply with the international standard ISO 18013-5 for mobile driving licenses published in September 2021, it offers the possibility to confirm the right to drive, which is important in an exceptional situation.
