The Star Wars celebration is in full swing this weekend and the anticipation is once again reaching a new high. Andor Season 2, when the cast and crew took to the stage to share exclusive footage of what they’ve been filming since November. Meaning the footage, own Collider Steve Weintraub caught up with Cassian Andor himself, Diego Lunaafter a panel to discuss some of the points shown in the teaser.

Weintraub asked Luna about the scenes in which Cassian was undercover dressed in several different outfits to seemingly fit in with his new surroundings, to which Luna explained:

“Season 1 ends with the guy saying, ‘Okay, kill me or take me in.’ He doesn’t know what he’s getting himself into. He doesn’t speak the language. And now it’s about becoming a spy. We have to get to the point where he goes on this mission where Rogue One starts. So he has to become a real spy, and he will have to learn a lot.”

With the second season Andor preceded the events Rogue One, it makes sense that the first block of episodes that was filmed set the stage for who Cassian is in a few short years. And a few short years is like Andor rushes to the finish line with blocks of 3 episodes, each spanning an entire year. On this subject, Weintraub asked Luna about what fans can expect from the script in Season 2, to which he explained:

“We are not repeating what happened in the first season. Structurally, it has changed. Each block of 3 episodes is a year, and then there is a transition between blocks. There’s a lot you’ll see and a lot you won’t, and that’s pretty interesting. It’s risky and it’s going to be difficult for viewers, in a good way. Tony [Gilroy] continues to raise the bar and it’s wonderful to work with someone who cares so much about what he does. I’d say it brings out the best of all. It all starts with writing, and with good writing you can get great people, great ideas, and then it’s a great process. Just sad every day, you know? Because this trip is one day less and it was fantastic.”
