In the Czech Republic, as in other EU countries, the status of temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees has been extended.
The new law Lex Ukrajina IV states that refugees who “were in Ukraine” as of February 24, 2022 can extend temporary protection, reports proukrainu.blesk.cz.
If a foreigner before February 24 had a valid residence permit for more than 90 days in a country other than Ukraine, then he is not entitled to temporary protection in the Czech Republic.
“The key is whether the foreigner was “in Ukraine” as of February 24th. This also applies to persons who were in another country at the beginning of the conflict, but only for a short time, for example, on vacation, that is, no more than 90 days.”- the speaker of the press and public relations department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic Ghana Mali reports the resource of the word.
If the residence permit in the Czech Republic after 24 February is subsequently withdrawn, this does not preclude the granting of temporary protection.
If a person has a residence permit (long-term visa for a long-term or permanent residence permit) in another country of the European Union, then he cannot receive temporary protection in the Czech Republic.
Temporary protection in the Czech Republic does not end when a foreigner holding a special long-term visa with the code D/VS/U leaves the territory of the Czech Republic.
This is a special visa for citizens of Ukraine. With this visa, you can travel outside the territory of the Czech Republic, but only within the Schengen and Ukraine, although it indicates the number of entries “00”. Other travel outside the Schengen area will be allowed in emergency situations, provided that the need for travel is justified (business trips, emergency medical procedures, care for relatives) and an air ticket or ticket is presented.
Earlier it was reported that in the Czech Republic they want to change the rules for payments and the amount of benefits for Ukrainian refugees.
