During the ongoing process of bankruptcy of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, absurd expenses of the company are being found out. Among them are orders for meals for employees, which in terms of the amount are close to PLN 2 million.
Cryptocurrency exchange FTX, after a scandal and exposure of the company as a financial pyramid, filed for bankruptcy with the so-called. Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. Now quite interesting expenses of the company are found out.
FTX spent PLN 2 million on food for employees
The media has already written about the exorbitant costs of Alameda Research, owned by Sam Bankman-Fried. This one is currently being charged with fraud related to the operation of the FTX exchange (in another court case).
The court order also required FTX to disclose its books as part of the restructuring proceedings. As it turned out, the company also allowed itself a lot.
In two months, FTX spent over $400,000 on DoorDash food delivery. In the calculation, this means expenses in excess of PLN 1,757,700. Monthly it will be a little less than PLN 800,000. Recall that we are talking about the delivery of Chinese food or pizza for employees at a time when the Bankman-Fried company was already having problems keeping afloat.
Interestingly, another court document states that FTX still owes money to DoorDash. We are talking about an unpaid debt of almost 25,350 US dollars or more than 111,000 PLN.
Bankman-Fried alone took $2 billion out of FTX
Earlier at Wprost.pl we wrote about further clues regarding FTX’s bankruptcy. The new management of the company said that the collapsed cryptocurrency exchange made transfers worth about $ 2.2 billion to the founder of the company, Sam Bankman-Fried.
In total, more than $3.2 billion in payments and loans were provided to founders and key workers. These payments were made primarily from hedge fund Alameda Research, also linked to Bankman’s alleged scam.
