22-year-old promising Ukrainian boxer Maxim Galinichev died in the war with the Russian Federation, defending his native country from aggressors.

The press service of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine announced the sad news on its Telegram channel. “In May 2022, he deliberately refused to participate in the European Championship and volunteered for the air assault troops. After two wounds, he returned to the war again. On March 10, 2023, Maxim died in the Luhansk region, defending his homeland from the Russian enemy. The entire boxing family will always remember Maxim. Boxing Federation of Ukraine expresses sincere condolences to the boxer’s family“, - the message says.

Fear is such a thing that affects people in different ways, - Galinichev shared his thoughts even before the start of a full-scale war in an interview with XSPORT. - He paralyzes someone, and on the contrary makes someone more liberated. I think that fear is only in your head. If you know how to control yourself and your body and properly tune yourself, then any fear will step aside.“.

It should be noted that a native of Shostka in the Sumy region became the European champion among youth in 2017, won silver at the Youth Olympic Games in 2018 and an award of a similar value at the European Championship among athletes under 22 in 2021.
