The UK plans to start training Ukrainian pilots in August, during which it wants to train 20 military personnel as part of the “bird coalition”. This was stated British Undersecretary of Defense James Hippy.
On June 29, a member of the House of Commons of the British Parliament, Luke Pollard, representing the Labor Party, inquired about the progress of the training of pilots. He asked Gippy about the number of Ukrainian pilots the UK has trained since February 2022.
“UK to start basic training for 20 Ukrainian pilots in August“, the answer says.
In May, Western partners started talking about creating a coalition to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, which Kyiv has long been asking for. The first step for this should be the training of Ukrainian pilots. On May 19, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that his country, the United States, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark had agreed to take part in the training of Ukrainian pilots on Western fighters. Britain, in particular, has promised to start training in the summer.
Earlier wrote that Ukrainian pilots hit the Pentagon with the term of mastering the F-16: “Up to four months will be enough.”
