Love is in the air in Gotham City! When promoting Harley Quinn“Very Troubled Valentine’s Day Special”, Showrunners Patrick Shumaker And Justin Halpern spoke to Variety in an interview where Shumaker said that Harley (Kaley Cuoco) and Poison Ivy (Lake Bell) are more interesting when they are together. The characters admitted to having feelings for each other in the show’s second season, and in the show’s third season, Harley and Ivy explore their new couple status and what it will mean for their personal goals. Here’s what Schumaker had to say:
Harley and Ivy are much more interesting as characters when they’re together, when they can bounce off each other. They are best at digging up aspects of each other that they don’t want to show the world themselves. So they need each other, and we need them together - dramatically - to keep making the show really interesting.
The Valentine’s Day Special, now available to stream on HBO Max, celebrates Harley and Ivy’s first time together as a couple. While Ivy thinks the best way to spend the night is in a quiet, relaxed evening, Harley is determined to make the occasion memorable with her classic chaotic plans. The misunderstanding between the couple leads to the funny craziness that the show is known for, while not forgetting that at its core, this is the story of two people who love each other deeply, just trying to prove to their partner how much they care.
The pair have received a fantastic response from fans ever since they were featured in the pages of DC Comics. Margot Robbie, who plays a live version of Quinn, showing interest in bringing the relationship between Harley and Ivy to the big screen. Although the show has already been renewed for a fourth season, it has not been announced when the new episodes will be available to stream on HBO Max. Meanwhile, the new 44-minute special should be enough to help fans as they patiently wait for the return of the hilarious anti-hero.
A Kite Man spin-off is in development
Due to the success Harley Quinn series, a spin-off of Kite Man titled Noonan is currently in development on HBO Max. In the series, named after a bar purchased by the character, a villain tries to run a bar known as a meeting place for supervillains. Patrick Shumaker, who will also serve as showrunner for this new project, said the concept would be something along the lines of “To your healthbut for supervillains”: While Harley and Ivy are set to appear during the pilot episode, the series will continue to introduce new characters to this version of the DC Universe.
