It’s another great day to be a horror fan. Ghostface kicked off 2022 with a bloody bang thanks to their return to scream and now the famous slasher villain ended the terrifying year with the first teaser for Creek VI. The long-awaited horror sequel hits theaters in March. However, along with the new trailer and teaser poster, the film also released a new Ghostface-focused image that will give you chills.

The image published by Entertainment Weekly is all about our favorite masked killer. Ghostface is in his usual menacing pose while showing off his knife, but the focus of this particular shot is on the iconic mask itself. This is not your usual white, store-bought Ghostface mask. This mask has seen better days with a very creepy weather-beaten design that perhaps hints that this may not be the killer’s first kill. When co-director Tyler Gillette Speaking about the updated costume, he said: “It will all make sense in the context in which you see it in the film. It was another one of the really interesting risks and creativity in this film. It’s a different meta, and the mask has a big impact on that.” Gillette’s Horror in Crime partner, co-director Matt Bettinelli-Olpinadded: “It was not an arbitrary choice.”

While the Ghostface mask has remained fairly consistent in the Screamverse over the years, Ghostface has had many popular variations in real life since the original film premiered in 1996. add-ons such as “Pride” and “Chrome” Ghostface. The last one originated from Scream 2022. However, this new mask is most similar to the “Zombie” Ghostface. It’s not an exact one-on-one game, but it’s pretty close. Perhaps this is the meta aspect that Gillette is talking about. If this is indeed the case, could this mean that someone from screamthe past comes back from the dead to put on the mask again or for the first time? It will definitely work scream fans’ tinfoil hats are on fire as this frenzied horror community suggested that Matthew LillardStu Maher has been around for years, despite his televised “death” in the first movie.
