Since Friday, Netia users have had problems using the Internet. Only a few dozen hours later, the company acknowledged the problem and explained what was behind it.
On Friday, Netia customers began reporting problems with Internet and TV access. The signal was lost and then returned, in some cities the problem was more serious than in others. An increase in the number of notifications was also visible on the website downdetector.pl.. It wasn’t until Monday afternoon that the company acknowledged there was a problem.
Netia admits there are network access issues
“Since Friday evening, Netia Group’s network infrastructure has been the target of an exceptionally severe, prolonged and complex DDoS attack that causes intermittent failures in the proper functioning of access services for some of our customers.
The relevant services and institutions have been informed about the situation. Our specialists make every effort to provide services at the highest level.
Compensation for the lack of Internet
“Only Francis was slower than you to react to the start of the war,” commented one of the clients, while others asked how about compensation for the lack of access to the network. The company did not write about this, so either it will make an offer later, or general rules will apply.
They provide that the amount of compensation is 1/30 of the subscription fee for each day of non-performance or improper provision of telecommunications services - unless the contract provides for more beneficial solutions for the customer. So, if interruptions in Internet access lasted 2 days, and the user pays PLN 60 for access to the network, he can count on a decrease in the account by PLN 4. Of course, he can prove in court that he suffered damage as a result of the interruption of access (for example, he could not work remotely from home, he had to rent an apartment with Internet access, or he lost his “day salary”), but for this he needs to file claim against the corporation and gather evidence to support their reasons.
