The latest data from the Central Statistical Office on average wages confirms the government’s claims. Indexation of pensions and disability pensions will be a record.
Indexation of pensions and disability pensions in 2023 will be a record. According to the latest data from the Main Statistical Office, it will amount to 14.8 percent. Even before the publication of today’s data, the head of the ZUS, prof. Gertrud Uschinska said that “the second indicator is likely to be indifferent”.
It should be noted that this year there will be a percentage-total indexation. As the head of the department of family and social policy explained, this means that pensioners with total disability will have indexed benefits of at least PLN 250. From March 1st. the minimum old-age pension should be PLN 1,588.44, the minimum disability pension - PLN 1,191.33, and the pre-retirement allowance - PLN 1,600.70.
Record indexation of pensions and disability pensions
As Oskar Sobolevsky, a pension market expert and founder of Debata Emerytalna, wrote on his Twitter account: “In March, pensioners expect a high, almost 15 percent. indexation of benefits will increase by 14.8 percent.” The expert recalled, however, that such a high growth is a consequence of record inflation. For comparison, he recalled that last year’s indexation was 7 percent.
In an interview with Super Express on February 8, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also reported such a high indexation. “From March 1, all pensioners will receive a record bonus of 14.8%, at least PLN 250 gross. The minimum pension will be PLN 1,588.” he said in an interview with SE.
“The elderly are the apple of the eye of the government of Law and Justice. Consistent indexation of benefits, tax-free pension, 13th and 14th pensions are specific issues that we have taken care of. Since 2015, the position of Polish pensioners has changed beyond recognition. And we will continue to do everything so that every pensioner lives with dignity,” the Prime Minister added.
