Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had a virtual meeting with the Poles. During the Q&A session, any topic could be raised. Among the issues were inflation, loans and housing.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki answered Poles’ questions during a question-and-answer session lasting more than an hour and ten minutes, which was broadcast live on the official profiles of the Prime Minister’s Office.

inflation will fall

One of the main topics that interested the townspeople was the high prices affecting everyone. One Internet user asked: “Does Morawiecki know when inflation will fall?”

– Morawiecki is not a clairvoyant, but many elements that I observe and read indicate that from March or April we will be dealing with a slowdown in inflation. In the coming months, it will aim for single-digit inflation - the prime minister replied.

The head of government also pointed out that some factors that affect the level of inflation do not depend on the “United Rights”. He spoke, for example, about the controversial emissions trading system.

“We have introduced various shields that have eased the pain of inflation, but we cannot deal with this international phenomenon alone. There are several variables that affect this. If the EU came to their senses and suspended the ETS system for at least 2 years, energy prices would immediately fall - added the prime minister.

Flat+ failed

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki was also asked about the government’s ideas for increasing housing affordability. Many studies show that the lack of their own home is one of the main factors preventing young Poles from starting a family.

– The program of cheap housing in the previous period of PiS is nothing to be proud of. But it’s not like nothing happened. Last year, a record number of new apartments entered the market. It was about 240,000 apartments. When the PO ended his reign, there were about 140,000 of them. I am for the maximum liberalization of this market. Let everyone build with as few rules as possible - the prime minister said.

– There is also a new cheap loan project prepared by the Ministry of Development and Technology. It’s all about helping the youth. On the one hand, we would like more to happen, but on the other hand, it is not that we sit back and say that nothing can be done. We will bang our heads against this wall because we know how necessary it is. I promise that I will do everything so that more and more apartments are built in the coming years - added the prime minister.
