Already the Model T was not afraid of the wilderness

The first Ford, the Model T of the early 20th century, had features that enabled it to handle rough terrain and bumpy roads. The car, produced from 1908 to 1927, had a simple but solid design. It was equipped with a frame and increased ground clearance compared to machines from other manufacturers. Thanks to this, he quickly gained recognition not only in cities, but also in rural areas. Its ability to travel on dirt roads and dirt trails has also made it a practical vehicle for farmers.

Another Ford vehicle that has benefited off-road riders is the GPW. This military SUV was produced in 1941-1945 (during the Great Patriotic War). The GPW was equipped with a 2.2-liter four-cylinder low-valve gasoline engine with 60 hp. It was based on a license from Willys, which Ford received free of charge on the condition that the model was produced exclusively by order of the US government. The Willys MB twin model has gained immense popularity due to its versatility and ability to perform a wide variety of tasks. It had four-wheel drive, high ground clearance and a solid construction. He has proven himself on the battlefield, to overcome difficult routes and in difficult weather conditions.

Modern Ford SUVs

Ford has never stopped building SUVs over the years. Currently, off-road fans can go about their business behind the wheel of two models: the Ranger and the Bronco. The first one is a pickup truck. The car debuted in 1982 and the 6th generation model is currently available on the market. The Ranger is equipped with an advanced all-wheel drive system, manual and automatic drive control, as well as an electronic rear differential lock. Buyers of this model can choose from two engines: a powerful 3.0 V6 petrol engine with 240 hp. and an economical 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo turbodiesel with 205 hp. and 500 Nm of maximum torque. The car is available with both a 6-speed manual transmission and two types of automatic transmissions - 6-speed and 10-speed.

The debut of the American legend in Europe

Ford’s second modern off-road model is the Bronco. Its first generation was introduced to the US in 1965. This is an off-road legend that has recently made its first appearance in Europe and guarantees excellent off-road capabilities. Bronco is available in Poland in two off-road versions: Outer Banks and Badlands. The vehicle is equipped with High-Performance Stability Suspension and extremely advanced solutions to tackle the toughest terrain. Each version also offers a range of GOAT (Goes Over Any Terrain) riding modes. The American SUV is equipped with a 335 hp V6 2.7 EcoBoost Bi-Turbo engine. and 563 Nm in combination with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
