The US government has expanded the opportunity for older refugees from Ukraine to receive state pensions, to which low-income people who have reached the age of 65 are entitled to in the country.
The pension is called Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and is intended for those Americans who do not receive pension insurance, which is the main one in the country, according to Visit Ukraine.
SSI is paid monthly. The amount differs depending on the state of residence, but there is a stable minimum rate: in 2023 it is $914 per person or $1371 for spouses.
Recently, refugees from Ukraine have also been entitled to this payment, along with American pensioners, confirm the Office for Resettlement of Refugees of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
To apply for a loan, you must meet two criteria:
-
reaching the age of 65;
-
arrival in the country after February 24, 2022
Recall that earlier “FACTS” wrote where to apply, how state aid is calculated for pensioners from Ukraine in Germany, and whether Ukrainians work in the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland in their pension experience.
