Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine continue to carry out counterintelligence activities at the facilities of the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate) in Cherkasy, Volyn and Kherson regions.
According to the press center of the special services, in particular, law enforcement officers visited:
Exaltation of the Cross Czartorysky Monastery of the Volyn diocese;
Nicholas Miletsky Monastery of Vladimir-Volyn diocese
Assumption Cathedral of the UOC-MP in Kherson;
Office of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC;
St. Michael’s Cathedral and the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called in Cherkassy, as well as the Sunday School and Library of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC;
Office of the Uman-Zvenigorod diocese (Uman);
St. George’s Convent (Umansky district);
Holy Trinity Motroninsky convent (Cherkasy region);
Krasnogorsk Holy Intercession Convent (Zolotonoshsky district);
Kanev Assumption Cathedral;
religious community Parish of St. Sophronius Bishop of Irkutsk (Cherkassy).
In all these facilities, with the direct participation of representatives of the church, law enforcement officers conduct an inspection of the territory and premises (including a hotel type) to identify persons involved in illegal activities to the detriment of the state sovereignty of Ukraine and items prohibited for circulation.
The events are held jointly with the National Police and the National Guard as part of the systematic work of the Security Service of Ukraine to counter the subversive activities of Russian special services in our state and prevent the use of religious communities as a cell of the “Russian world” and protect the population from provocations and terrorist acts.
Recall, on December 2, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to apply personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to certain representatives of the UOC-MP in Ukraine.
