The match between Poland and Albania was not perfect for the white-reds, but they managed enough to win and earn mostly positive marks (on a scale of 1 to 10). Two non-obvious heroes came out of our team.
After a failed meeting with the Czech Republic, the Poles rehabilitated themselves and scored 3 points against Albania. Not all of them presented themselves quite convincingly, but this time there was no shame. In many ways, this modest victory was the result of the titanic work of two players who performed better than expected.
Ratings for Poland - Albania
Wojciech Szczesny (6) “It was a good game that was hard to concentrate on. The opponent rarely entered our penalty area, but when a kick was heard, the Juventus goalkeeper was on duty. He saved three dangerous shots in the 22nd, 58th and 59th minutes, so he deserves praise.
Przemysław Frankowski (4) - He was very nervous from the very beginning of the match, because of which he made simple technical mistakes, for example, at the reception. Over time, he gained confidence - fortunately, because he extinguished several dangerous counterattacks. Less nerves, more concentration and can be an interesting alternative to proper protection. It is a pity that the situation developed in the second part of the meeting, when he hit too easily after the “exhibition” from Zalevsky.
Bartosz Salamon (7) – The best Pole on the field. He played almost perfectly in the first half. He was always where he was supposed to be, reading the game brilliantly. In the second, he had two or three inaccuracies, although they were not huge errors. He got a yellow card because he saved the team after the loss of Lynette, so he can be forgiven for that. An excellent performance that can change a lot in the context of the personnel of the White-Red Defense Center.
Jan Bednarek (4) “Invisible, which could be an advantage for a centre-back. Unfortunately, in the end, he made the hearts of Polish fans beat faster several times - for example, in the 79th minute he made a mistake that could have ended in failure. He did not appear at the very end of the meeting, when Uzuni broke out from under his cover and was close to leveling the score. It was better than with the Czech Republic, but we expect more.
Jakub Kivior (5) “Santos trusted him after a disastrous performance in the first game in March and this time the Arsenal player did not disappoint. He played in a strange position as a left-back with little to no offensive play. However, with the main work - interceptions or ensuring the safety of colleagues - he coped well.
Jakub Kaminsky (5) - Plus for hard work, because it characterizes his performance. He worked hard on the press and supported the defense when needed. The only pity is that when the ball was at his feet, it seemed that he did not do anything brilliant to match his talent. However, he had a share in the goal, because it was his shot at the post that finished off Swiderski. It’s a shame for the action from the end, in which he crashed into the crossbar because of the “sixteen”.
Karol Linetti (5) - Much better than against the Czechs, but only for dirty work “to set up, fight, collect and give to the nearest.” He performed these tasks flawlessly. But when he tried to do more… Well, his legs gave out. Minus especially for a dangerous loss in the end, after which Salamon had to save the team with a foul for a yellow card.
Piotr Zielinski (5) “Very active, albeit inaccurate. He tried to be the brains of the team, but he lacked accuracy in individual games. Sheds from standard positions were especially bad for him. He sped up the game, took it over, came to the game and praised him for it. On the other hand, there was a lack of some kind of bright game that could end, for example, with a second-class assist.
Nicola Zalewski (4) “He started very boldly, and I am grateful to him for that. He made a very dangerous shot about a quarter of an hour into the game. It is a pity that Strakosha guarded the near post so well. A couple of times he greatly accelerated the action, a couple of times he helped in the rear. He also scored a dangerous reception, after which Lewandowski could have scored, but he ruined it. Unfortunately, however, the Roma winger faded over time until he became a trigger after about an hour of play as a lot of sloppiness crept into his game. He left in the 68th minute, when it seemed that he could no longer help us.
Karol Swiderski (7) - At first he was too inaccurate, but then he caught the right pitch. As a disqualified striker, he would often go deeper and try out combination play. If necessary, he could hold the ball or provoke a foul. But the most important thing is that he scored the winning goal for us, showing the instinct of a fox out of the box.
Robert Lewandowski (3) - One of the worst players in the team of Fernando Santos. He fought back, fought back, but almost nothing came of it. He made his best action somewhat by accident, in the 63rd minute of the rally. At the time, he came close to outscoring Strakosha, but one of the Albanian defenders headed the ball into the empty net. In addition, he often bounced off the ball, hesitated in his actions, he lacked accuracy and speed in passing. He recorded the worst game in the end, when he first went to the opponent’s feet, and then lost the duel in the center of the field, after which our opponents created the most dangerous situation in the entire match.
Michal Skoras (5) He shook Hisai several times, but nothing concrete came of it. When resting, he ran a lot and supported his colleagues wherever he could. He did a great job, imperceptible at first glance, for which Zalevsky no longer had the strength.
Damian Szymanski (5) “He came to calm the game when the Albanians were pressing us at the end and he succeeded.
Sebastian Szymanski (not ranked) “He played too little to be judged.
