After a hiatus after the release of the 2016 film Black hat, legendary director Michael Mann triumphantly returns to directing feature films. His latest project ferrari starring Adam Driver How Enzo Ferrari, is poised to garner attention during the upcoming awards season. This highly anticipated film sets the gripping story of Italian racing legend and Ferrari entrepreneur set against the backdrop of 1957. As the story progresses, viewers will witness how Ferrari overcomes both personal family difficulties and the intense preparation for the iconic 1957 Mille Miglia race.

Although pre-production for the film began in 1993 for Mann, he explained to Variety that he had been fascinated by the famous Italian sports car makers since 1967, when he first saw a Ferrari in the flesh as a 24-year-old student in London.

“Something is going on,” Mann said. “It was a four-chamber Ferrari 275 GTB. It was such a gorgeous, sensual sculpture that moved. It was just a combination of speed and pure beauty.” Nearly 60 years later, he finally tells the story he dreamed of before man set foot on the moon. “It happened when it happened.”

What to expect from Ferrari

After the tragic Mille Miglia in 1957, the event was canceled due to a devastating accident. Driving a Ferrari Alfonso de Portago a tire failure occurred, leading to a catastrophic crash that claimed the lives of de Portago, his co-driver, and several spectators. Following this heartbreaking incident, and amid growing safety concerns, the Italian government took the solemn decision to end the race. The upcoming film may also focus on the ensuing legal battle involving Ferrari, who was charged with manslaughter in the aftermath of the tragedy. The allegations arose because the faulty car was his own creation. This compelling narrative is based on a book written in 1991 by the late writer and journalist. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Penelope Cruz like Laura Ferrari Shailene Woodley like Lena Lardy Patrick Dempseyan experienced race car driver in real life, in the role of Piero Taruffi, a race car driver, Jack O’Connell as race car driver Peter Collins, Sarah Gadon like Linda Christian and Gabriel Leone depicting Fon de Portago. Dempsey’s real-life racing experience makes him a particularly suitable choice for the film.
