Zack Snyder has made the director’s cut his calling card, and this will be no exception to his two-part sci-fi epic. Rebel Moon. On the eve of the premiere Rebel Moon: Part One - Child of Fire This December on Netflix, Snyder revealed that when the two director’s cuts are eventually released, they will extend the film’s total runtime by almost an hour.
“The director’s cut takes about an hour of extra content, so I think it’s the real expanded universe version,” Snyder told Netflix’s Tudum website. “You can really see a lot. It’s just more drawn. Director [cut] is a deep dive that I’ve been known to do throughout my career. I don’t know how I got into this director’s cut, but what I’ll say about it is that for me, director’s cuts have always been something that I’ve had to fight for in the past and nobody wanted that.” Does Snyder plan to release director’s cuts for both parts of the film, but said he specifically designed the scenes with the extended cut in mind:
“With Netflix, we only filmed scenes for the director’s cut. So in that sense, it’s really a revelation, because it gives the big fans a second hit on the can, like a real discovery that they wouldn’t have made.” [otherwise] receive. I am very happy about it!”
Initially started development as star Wars movie, Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella as Cora, a stranger on Veldt’s moon. When the inhabitants of the Moon are threatened by the ruling Mother World and its Imperium army, “Cora gathers a small band of warriors… who share a common need for redemption and revenge,” according to the Netflix synopsis. “As the shadow of an entire Realm looms over the most incredible of moons, the battle for the fate of the galaxy rages on.”
The cast of the ensemble also plays the main roles. Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Ed Skrein, Jena Malone, Michelle Huisman, Cleopatra Coleman And Anthony Hopkins. Rebel Moon was directed by Snyder from a script he wrote with Kurt Johnstad And Shay Hatten. The film was produced by his wife Snyder. Deborah Snyder And Wesley Koller for the banner of the Stone Quarry, as well as Eric Newman for Grand Electric.

Perhaps Snyder is best known for creating extended cuts. Snyder also stated that he still plans to release a director’s cut of his 2011 film. Sucker Punch. The film did not do well at the box office, but became a cult classic with fans asking for additional versions for a long time. Given Snyder’s clear penchant for director’s cuts, extended editions Rebel Moon this is a rather unsurprising event.
