Last year Danish psychological horror thriller Don’t speak evil was released and received international recognition. Now the cult horror film studio Blumhouse is already preparing to make a remake. James McAvoy is due to star in a theatrical release scheduled for August 9, 2024.
The original Danish film follows a Danish family who, after meeting a Dutch family they met on vacation, are invited to visit their new friends. What starts out as a perfect weekend getaway in a remote area of the Netherlands quickly turns dark as “Danes try to stay polite in the face of adversity.” Don’t speak evil was a huge critical and public success and quickly became an international hit. It is currently unknown how much the remake will repeat the original film and what changes will be made.
McAvoy is best known for films such as X-Men: First Class, Last King of ScotlandAnd Redemption. The BAFTA winner made his mark on the world of horror for the last time with It: Chapter 2, which was an extremely successful film for the genre.
