On Christmas Eve we will shop no later than 14:00, and on Sunday and Monday the stores will be closed. Two chain stores of household goods do not work at all on December 24.
On Christmas Eve, shops work shorter, and this is due not only to the decisions of their managers, but, above all, to the regulations. Article 8 of the Law on the Restriction of Trade on Sundays, Public Holidays and Certain Other Days provides that on December 24 (which is not a public holiday), shops may be open until 2 pm. gas stations and individual small shops.
We write here about the opening hours of stores during the holidays and after Christmas. On December 25th and 26th, we will definitely not be shopping because they are public holidays.
Scandinavian chains are also closed on Christmas Eve.
Let the one who did not have a chance to run away at the last moment before closing the shops for something that he forgot about and that is important on the festive table raise his hand. On December 24, stores do not complain about the lack of traffic, and two retail chains - Ikea and Jysk - decided not to open at all. On this day, their employees have a day off. What both networks have in common is their origins: they are from Scandinavian countries, and their managers seem to take work-life balance seriously.
“Free Christmas Eve is our gift to our employees. We believe that there is nothing more valuable than the opportunity to spend the whole day with your loved ones,” wrote Piotr Padalak, CEO of JYSK Polska, in a message.
Similar values are indicated by representatives of Ikea. “Christmas is a time of debriefing and relaxation, as well as time spent with loved ones. We want all employees to celebrate this time in their own way, so on Christmas Eve all IKEA stores (…) will be closed.
