In Russia, which is shelling Ukraine, an explosion at a gas station in Makhachkala killed 30 people. Another 105 people were injured, according to the Russian service of the BBC.
The explosion took place on the evening of 14 August. At least three children were among the dead. According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred in the car service building opposite the gas station. The cause of the explosion is being specified.
According to the authorities, the explosion occurred around 21:50 at the intersection of Kulinskaya Street and the Federal Highway in the village of Novokuli at the exit from Makhachkala. The site of the initial explosion was probably in a car service located across from a gas station, and then the outbreak tipped over into a gas station.
The Telegram channel Shot, citing a source in the Russian Ministry of Taxation, wrote that because of the blast wave, burning fuel covered people who came to look at the car service on fire and were within a radius of 50 meters from it.
As TASS reported with reference to emergency services, two out of eight fuel tanks exploded at the gas station. According to the Ministry of Taxation, the area of the fire was 600 square meters. The fire was extinguished three hours later.
