The All England Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club hosts one of four Wimbledon Grand Slam tournaments with a $56.5 million prize pool.

An incredible duel in the third round was given by the 34-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Lesya Tsurenko (60th), who once defeated the US Open champion at Roland Garros. In the match against Romanian Ana Bogdan (57th), which lasted as much as 3 hours and 40 minutes (the longest women’s duel at the current Wimbledon), the Kiev player lost in the first set - 4:6, but took the second game - 6:3. Everything was decided in the third set, which lasted for an hour and a half. With a score of 6:6, the Ukrainian and Romanian, hardly moving their legs, gave a fantastic tie-break, in which Lesya, even with cramps in her legs, still forced the younger (by four years) opponent to capitulate - 20:18.

The 38-point final-set tie-break between Tsurenko and Bogdan is the longest in women’s singles Grand Slams history, according to the ITF.

Note that, having reached the 1/8 finals of Wimbledon, Tsurenko earned 265.7 thousand dollars “dirty” and set a personal record in the tournament (earlier Lesya reached the third round at Wimbledon in 2017 and 2022). The Ukrainian will challenge her ticket to the quarterfinals in a duel with American Jessica Pegula from the USA (4th).

Another Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (36th) defeated the eminent Spaniard Paula Badosa on the refusal of her opponent - 6:2, 1:0 and for the first time in her career she will play in the third round of Wimbledon.

Unfortunately, Angelina Kalinina (26th), who earned 108.2 thousand dollars in England, stopped playing at Wimbledon, having insultingly lost to her opponent in a tie-break. In the fight of the second round, the Kiev resident led in the decisive set - 5:2, but eventually lost to Canadian Bianca Andreescu (50th) - 2:6, 6:4, 6:7 (7).

Recall that in singles at Wimbledon, Ukraine is also represented by Elina Svitolina (76th), who defeated the legendary American Venus Williams and the Belgian Elise Mertens in two starting rounds, and in the third round match late in the evening on July 7 she will play against Sofia Kenin from the USA.

Earlier reported that the star Ukrainian tennis players Lesya Tsurenko, Marta Kostyuk and Oleksandra Dolgopolov handed over a “combat” SUV to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
