Information that Russia wants to place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus has been circulating for a long time. Lukashenka stated that this would “secure the Belarusian state and ensure peace for the Belarusian people.”
And on Thursday, May 25, it became known that the corresponding document was signed in Moscow by the ministers of the Russian Federation and the Security Council, TASS reports.
At the same time, non-strategic nuclear weapons are not transferred to Belarusians - control over them and the decision on their use remains with Moscow, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
Earlier, well-known American international journalist Thomas Friedman wrote in an op-ed for The New York Times that Putin has two ways to end the war. The first is to continue until Ukraine is drained of blood and/or the West gets tired of Ukraine. The second is to provoke a direct confrontation from the US to bring the world to the mutual use of nuclear weapons, and then step back and offer a settlement where Ukraine becomes neutral and disarmed, and Russia keeps Crimea and Donbass.
