President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky Which recently stated that there was still time to launch a counter-offensive, on Friday, May 12, he held a meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. The participants discussed the supply of missiles and shells, and the military reported on the situation at the front.
According to Zelensky, the commander of the Eastern Group of Forces Alexander Syrsky and the commander of the operational-strategic group of forces “Tavria” Alexander Tarnavsky reported on the situation on the front line.
“We heard the report of General Syrsky, whose units stopped the enemy with extra effort and even threw him back in some directions … We identified their priority needs and got acquainted with the pace of acquisition of equipment and ammunition for new brigades”the President noted.
Also, the participants of the meeting listened to the reports of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshin.
“We checked all our long-term contracts for the supply of ammunition and missiles”Zelensky added.
By the way, in the morning, Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said that the Ukrainian military had not lost a single position in a week. She also noted that the soldiers in the east of Ukraine are not only defending themselves, but also in some places pushing the enemy back. In particular, in the Bakhmut direction, units of the Defense Forces moved forward by 2 km.
Recall that the General Staff reported on the main efforts of the enemy in the Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky and Maryinsky directions, where Ukrainian fighters repelled 44 attacks.
