I am currently working as a news website author at Daily News Hack. I mostly cover trending news and have been doing so for quite some time now. I have always had a keen interest in current affairs and the world around me, which is what led me to my current job. I firmly believe that the best way to learn about something is by doing it yourself and that is why I love my job so much. It allows me to be constantly learning about new things and then sharing that knowledge with others. I am also a big believer in the power of networking and building relationships. I think that LinkedIn is a great platform for connecting with like-minded people from all over the world.

Roman Polko, brigadier general and ex-commander of the Polish special forces unit “Grom”commented for Delfi on what Ukraine needs to win and why we are dealing with an army of barbarians.

In 1999, I commanded a Polish contingent in Kosovo (reinforced by a Lithuanian jaeger platoon and a Ukrainian airborne company), in the American sector, a Russian unit also performed the task, which, I must say, did not impress with its training and weapons. One of my American colleagues at the time summed them up in one sentence: “We were so afraid of them, and they are so hopeless.”

However, I am far from being dismissive of the Russian military. But… what do we see? Civilian objects are being targeted instead of the military, private mercenary armies are directing operations, generals are being replaced one after another before they take office, and criminals are being recruited into soldiers. All this indicates that we are dealing not with an army, but with an army of barbarians.“.

Without tanks and Western equipment in general, the general adds, it was impossible to plan any offensive operations.

With their delivery, the range of capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces is expanding, in particular, those related to planning operations to oust the aggressor from the occupied territories. Ukraine is waging a war that should not have been, a war from a bygone era, and in such a war, artillery and tanks play a key role. We need aviation, possibly F-16s and medium and long range rocket artillery. In connection with criminal attacks on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine and the civilian population, anti-missile systems, such as the American Patriot, the German Iris-T or the Polish Piorun, are coming to the fore. However, it should be remembered that even the most effective defense will not win the war and will not force the enemy out of the territories he has occupied.“.

Regarding whether the occupiers will want to capture Kyiv again, Roman Polko believes that yes.

Although this would be completely contrary to common sense and the rules of military art, Vladimir Putin has already demonstrated that he can independently lead the army in this way, as it occurs to him. Basically, it is to him that the Russians owe the defeat near Kyiv at the first stage of the war. The only pity is that at a time when a huge Russian armored column stood on the road to Kyiv for weeks, it is obvious that Ukraine did not have the means to destroy all this equipment and manpower of the enemy“.

Recall that Vladimir Gorbulin said that in 2001 prevented Ukraine from joining NATO.
