The SBU continues to identify enemy spotters - this time a Russian agent who was reconnoitering the positions of the Ukrainian air defense was neutralized in the Cherkasy region.
According to the press service of the department, the attacker turned out to be an employee of a medical institution, who at the beginning of a full-scale invasion was recruited by a representative of the Russian special service. On the instructions of his curators, he purposefully traveled around the territory of the region and collected information about the basing and movement of units of the Defense Forces. First of all, the “agent” tried to identify the combat positions of the air defense system and the locations of the training centers of the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in addition, he “reported” to the FSB about the locations of local critical infrastructure facilities, including power generating enterprises.
The traitor passed the collected intelligence to the Russian curator through an anonymous telegram channel in the form of marks on electronic maps and photographic materials.
The arrest of the attacker occurred on an attempt to transfer classified information about Ukrainian objects to the aggressor, and during a search at his place of residence, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone and tablet with evidence of secret correspondence with the FSB.
Also, the person involved was found to have a passport of the former USSR model and pro-Kremlin symbols.
SBU investigators informed him of suspicion under part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law). The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention, without the right to make bail.
Let us remind you that another traitor was detained in the Chernihiv region earlier, who not only collected intelligence about the Defense Forces in the border areas in northern Ukraine and handed it over to the special services of Belarus, but also organized a channel for illegally transporting Ukrainian citizens of military age abroad.
