Employees of the DBR detained another high-ranking official on a bribe - one of the deputy heads of the transport infrastructure department of the Kyiv City State Administration.
“An official of the Kyiv City State Administration blackmailed the capital’s carriers with obstacles in their work if they did not pay tribute. The official devised a scheme whereby carriers must pay a daily fixed fee from each of the hundreds of buses that were scheduled to run in Kyiv. As intermediaries, he took his close friend, who headed one of the state enterprises of the capital.- the message says.
Law enforcers documented the recovery of money from the co-owner of three Kyiv enterprises that carried out bus transportation of passengers - 100 thousand US dollars for unimpeded business activities and another 120 thousand dollars for the renewal of contracts for the transportation of passengers. The DBR added that under the terms of martial law, the Kyiv authorities were supposed to automatically extend these agreements until the end of the war.
In order for the entrepreneur to make the “right decision” faster, they constantly put pressure on him - they carried out unscheduled inspections, drew up acts on far-fetched violations.
A high-ranking official and his accomplice were detained by the DBR “hot” - while receiving another bribe in the amount of 220 thousand US dollars.
Law enforcement officers are investigating criminal proceedings under the article on fraud committed on an especially large scale or by an organized group. The sanction of the article is imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property. Eight searches were carried out, including in the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the KSCA.
Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko on this occasion, he said that the city authorities are ready to continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to prevent and combat corruption.
“As long as law enforcement agencies are dealing with the bribe-taker and the investigation continues, he will be immediately suspended from duty. It is unfortunate that when our defenders fight and die for Ukraine, there are those who do not work for victory in the rear, but, like a rat, steal from the city and the state. This is treason and weakening of Ukraine. And especially during martial law, the punishment for such crimes should be the most severe.” – said Klitschko.
Earlier, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported about the detention in Kyiv of a People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the 3rd convocation, who demanded 10 thousand dollars from a representative of the enterprise, promising to influence the adoption of a positive decision in a civil case by judges of one of the district courts of Kyiv and the appellate instance.
