It can take employers up to several weeks to implement all the changes related to remote work. Companies are required not only to prepare extensive documentation, but also to reorganize the entire process of employee control.
On April 7, amendments to the Labor Code will come into force. They will regulate the rules of remote work. Until now, the method of providing work from home has been based on Covid rules or company arrangements.
Most of the changes are made by employers.
Changes regarding the regulation of online work are one of the main topics for many Polish companies today. Most of them have to be borne by entrepreneurs. Therefore, employers prepare internal regulations, documents, procedures and templates for contracts with employees.
The main obligations of the employer include, first of all, providing the employee performing remote work with working materials and tools, including technical means. The companies also provide service and maintenance of the company’s equipment. In addition, employers will have to provide their employees with the training and technical support they need to perform online work and cover the cost of electricity and telecommunications services.
Distant work. Companies should develop additional documentation
As for additional documentation, it all depends on whether companies have had processes for regulating remote work in their structures so far. Some companies from the IT sector have already developed relevant regulations or agreements, although this was not required by law.
- In the case of employers who have not yet provided for such solutions, it will be necessary to identify positions whose work organization and type of work do not preclude the use of remote work, and decide on the creation of remote work. provisions or conclusion of individual contracts with employees says Marcelina Chojnacka, SoDA Public Advocacy Coordinator.
- It may turn out that in the presence of such vacancies, the employer will have to take into account the employee’s request for remote work and determine all aspects related to this. - the expert notes.
Distant work. Companies should create occupational risk assessments
In addition, employers will be required to create an occupational risk assessment for remote jobs, as well as define data protection procedures for remote work, which could increase the costs of “handling” the entire process.
- In the case of the IT sector, which is the forerunner of solutions such as remote or hybrid work, the introduction of new rules is a significant administrative burden. says Marcelina Chojnacka. - Discussions with member companies indicate that it may take up to several weeks of work to implement all the changes. he adds.
Employers need to reorganize the entire supervision process
In her opinion, over the past three years of covid reality and work on the principles of an anti-crisis shield, employers and employees have already developed their own standards for remote work. The current rules mean that companies are not only obliged to prepare extensive documentation, but also to reorganize the entire process of employee supervision.
According to technology industry experts, companies have no choice but to adapt to the necessary changes. This is indicated by the results of external and internal research. Employers are seeing a trend in which workers who are used to this mode of work do not want to return to stationary work.
Employees feel comfortable working remotely. Companies must adapt to change
The vast majority of SoDA companies state that employees prefer to remain 100% free. while remote, some people are interested in hybrid mode, and only a small percentage of people want to return to the office full-time. This applies to both small and large organizations.
From studies conducted by, among others, No Fluff Jobs shows that 56 percent. employees of the IT sector, in case of loss of the possibility of remote work, will start looking for a new job.
