Bad news for the Polish fans of Iga Swiatek. Polka will play at an unusual time

Must read

Iga Sventek is just starting her second week at the US Open. The Polka defends the title won last year in New York. The leader of the WTA rating in the fourth round will play with Elena Ostapenko. However, Polish fans are unhappy with the start time of the match.

Recall that Swiatek has three wins. The Pole defeated the Swede Rebecca Peterson (6:0, 6:1), the Australian Daria Saville (6:3, 6:4) and the Slovenian Kaya Juvan (6:0, 6:1). As you can see, the leader of the WTA rating did not lose a set in the tournament.

Tough test for polka at the US Open

However, Elena Ostapenko is a rival from a completely different regiment. The Latvian was the highest in her career in the WTA rankings at number five in 2018. She played in the Roland Garros final (2017), the Wimbledon semi-finals (2018) and the quarter-finals of this year’s Australian Open. On the courts of the US Open, Ostapenko performed the worst of all, she was the furthest in her career in the fourth round, which is just at the stage when she will meet Swiatek.

Polka is still on her way to great success in New York. In the event of a victory over Ostapenko in the quarterfinals, Swiatek will have a very difficult test. The leader of the WTA rating will play with the winner of the duel between Coco Gauff and Caroline Wozniacki. Moreover, the chance to meet a Dane with Polish roots, who returned to the court in style after a maternity break, would be unique.

Although Sventek has recently had scores with Gauf. The American is sure to be the favorite in the 4th round match against Denmark, being seeded at number 6 in the tournament.

Iga Sventek - Elena Ostapenko, when and where to watch the match?
