The former Polish representative made an unexpected decision regarding her career. Julia Konkol from Grot Budowlane Łódź decided to end it at the age of 28. Fans say goodbye to her with a special gift.
Julia Konkol (née Twardowska) may not have been the Tauron Liga’s biggest star, although her decision to end her career caused a lot of surprise. The volleyball player is only 28 years old, so she could perform at a high level for several more seasons. However, this will not happen, because after the match with BCS, Bostik Bielsko-Biala decided never to go on the court again.

So she played her last match as part of Budovlani’s struggle for third place in the 2022/23 season. However, which may be a little surprising, the rivalry between the teams from Lodz and Lesser Poland is still not allowed. To win a bronze medal, you must win three matches against an opponent claiming the same prize. So far, Maciej Bernat’s wards are leading 2:0. On May 6, they performed well enough to win 3-0 (27:25, 25:11 and 25:21).
Naturally, after the match, probably the last one played in Lodz, there was a solemn farewell to Konkol. Therefore, fans and activists decided to honor their football player right now, in her own institution. When the skirmish ended, the owner received a unique gift - a basket filled with herbs. It was a clear reference to her nickname. Fans, in turn, hung a banner in the stands. “Weed, you are a legend,” read the caption.
Indeed, this participant spent a lot of time in Lodz. She performed at Grot Budowlane for six seasons. It was with this club that she won three medals at the Polish Championships, although she never managed to reach gold. Also on his track record are two Super Cups and one National Cup. Previously, she also represented the colors of the Bydgoszcz Palace, MOYA Radomianki Radom and Joker Świecie. Her record in the Tauron Liga was 231 matches. In addition, she was the representative of Poland in 2014-2020.
