Former Ukrainian goalkeeper and football referee Vadim Shevchenko has passed away at the age of 66, the Ukrainian Football Association reports on Instagram.
One of the representatives of the Shevchenko football dynasty was a pet of Dynamo Kyiv. During the years of his career, the goalkeeper defended the colors of Spartak Zhytomyr, Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, SKA Kyiv and Avangard Rivne. As part of the Tashkent “Pakhtakor” goalkeeper had two fights in the Cup of the Soviet Union.
Having hung goalie gloves on nails, Vadim Shevchenko began his refereeing career. He was one of the referees who worked at the first championship of independent Ukraine, as well as a FIFA referee. Then, from 2008 to 2011, Shevchenko headed the committee of referees of the Football Federation of Ukraine, and later worked on the committee of national teams.

We add that the father and brother of Vadim Shevchenko were also football players. Viktor Nesterovich played for Neftchinik Baku, and Vitaliy played for Neftchi, Chornomorets, Dynamo Kiev and the Soviet Union national team, and later was the head coach of Metallurg Donetsk and Chornomorets.
Earlier reported that the legendary captain of Shakhtar and football referee Viktor Zvyagintsev died in occupied Donetsk.
