We are already after the qualifications for Friday’s World Cup competitions in Planica. In them we will see five Poles, and the only one who did not pass them is Jan Habdas. However, Thomas Turnbichler praised the way he introduced himself.
Everything indicates that the upcoming World Cup competitions in Planica promise to be great. We saw a lot of long jumps in qualifying, but the Slovenians dominated the competition in front of their audience. Anže Laniszek was the best with 239m, Timi Seitz was second with 241.5m and Domen Prevc completed the podium with 230m. Among the Poles, Kamil Stoch ranked 10th, followed by Piotr Zyla and Aleksander Zniszol respectively. Andrzej Stenkala took 32nd place, and we will not see Jan Habdas (55th) and Pavel Wonska (60th) at the competition.
Thomas Turnbichler praised Jan Habdas
For the 19-year-old jumper from Bielsko-Biała, the qualification in Planica was his mammoth slide debut and he immediately showed that he had potential, although he lacked experience. We won’t see him fly in major competitions, but Thomas Turnbichler was pleased with his performance nonetheless. He also spared no praise for other players.
- Today Yasiu became Janek, he became a man. Kamil gave a very good jump. His test was very stable. He had the best flight in qualifying, although he is still late and a little asymmetrical. Also, Petrek needs to be more direct, and then he will be able to fly, so we need to work on these topics with both guys, who are already doing great, - said the Austrian in an interview with Eurosport.
Polish coach is proud of Alexander Zniszhol
The 28-year-old improved his personal best by gliding 227.5m and was leading the pack for a long time. Thomas Turnbichler did not hide his pride in the achievements of his ward, but indicated that there was still work to be done.
- Olek also jumped great, having increased his personal record. I’m glad that his flights were really reliable, a little more vertical energy, so for me it was solid. We have to work on everything by tomorrow, but I think it’s always good to have something to do before the competition. I think he gained more confidence in Kulm and Vikersund. He just showed that he flies well, - the coach emphasized.
