The Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Poland issued a sharp statement on the shocking decision of the IOC. The World Federation announced that it would allow all Russians and Belarusians to participate in international sports competitions, which caused a real sensation.

On March 28, 2023, the International Olympic Committee decided to return Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Also, in the near future, a decision will be made on the participation of athletes from these countries in the next Olympic Games. The actions of the world federation are not liked in many countries. In response to the IOC’s decision, the Polish Ministry of Sports and Tourism issued a strong statement.

“Regarding the recommendation of the IOC to restore the opportunity for athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in individual sports under a neutral flag, the Ministry of Sports and Tourism maintains its position expressed in the statement on the war between Russia and Ukraine and international sports on the issue of not allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions,” it says. in a statement published on the website www.gov.pl.

This issue has long been a subject of great controversy, as it involves players from countries that have been waging a brutal war in Ukraine for more than a year. The current approach of Thomas Bach, his associates and the entire IOC is radically different from the one they presented 12 months ago. It was then that the International Olympic Committee excluded athletes from the aggressor countries and recommended similar actions to other organizations such as the FIVB or FIFA. A few months later, however, there was a revolution in the IOC and a complete change of attitude.

“Among the 35 signatories of the February 20 statement. It includes 25 EU countries, as well as the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

“There is no reason to change our position in the face of the ongoing destruction of Ukraine, including its sports infrastructure, caused by Russia’s unprovoked, unprovoked and unjustified war on Ukraine, supported by the Belarusian government,” the message says.
