Bartos Salamon showed behind the scenes of the match against Albania. “Santos wants to play like this”

Must read

Fernando Santos recorded his first victory in the second match. This result is due to a completely different tactics and more aggressive play. One of the highlights of this meeting was Bartos Salamon, who revealed how the Portuguese coach wanted to play.

The Polish national team managed to rehabilitate itself after an unsuccessful match with the Czech Republic. In the meeting with Albania, we saw a completely different face of the white-reds. All thanks to a different tactic and four personnel changes. In this confrontation, the Portuguese relied on a scheme with three defenders and two attackers, which immediately resulted in a more productive game. Despite a modest win thanks to Karol Swiderski’s goal, we can look to the future with optimism.

Bartosz Salamon: Three points were the most important today

One of the main winners of this second meeting is Bartosz Salamon, who showed himself very well. Unlike Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kivior, he was very confident in his interventions and distributed the ball very well from defense.

After the meeting, Polsat Sport journalists talked to the Lech Poznań defender. When asked if he was satisfied with the match, the player answered positively. “Of course, because after such a start of the qualification, which took place in Prague, today we needed a victory and three points. We led the game and dominated, we took the lead in the first half and wisely kept it.”

“We could have scored a second goal, but three points were the most important today. This is what we have achieved and we are happy,” he stressed.

Bartosz Salamon: Fernando Santos wants to play like this

The centre-back was asked about his tactical plans for this match and, in particular, about that free kick from behind. The defender admitted that this was the game plan. “Coach Santos wants to play this way – play very wide and the centre-backs are very useful for that,” he said.

“I tried to do my job the best I could, I think that with the exit I can do much more, but I also helped the team in many moments and I am pleased with this fact,” he assured.

Bartosz Salamon, when asked about the true face of the Polish national team, replied that something could already be seen in this match. - It should be a compact team that creates the game and does not allow the opponent to create too many chances. We did it today, maybe we could have created more chances, but it was a special game where three points mattered.”
