Recently, Polish jumpers have been short of breath, which confirms the last performance at the competitions in Lillehammer as part of the Raw Air cycle. The chance for rehabilitation appeared very quickly, because already today, i.e. March 15, Byala-Cherovny took part in the prologue to the next competition.
Tuesday’s competitions in the performance of the white-reds were not the most successful. Among the representatives of Poland, Kamil Stoch became the best, taking a distant 15th place. David Kubacki was only 19, which is why he is losing more and more to the leader of the Halvor cycle, Egner Granerud.
The chance to catch up at least part of the points appeared a day later, i.e. on Wednesday, March 15, on the prologue to the Thursday competition. It was originally scheduled to start at 19:15, but due to wind conditions, it was postponed to 19:15. 20:00 and the test series was cancelled.
Prologue in Lillehammer: Promoted destroyer and Vasek, unfortunately without Jakub Volna
The first ward of Thomas Turnbichler, noted on the starting bar, was Jakub Wolny, who flew only 116 meters. This result did not immediately give him a promotion, so our representative had to wait for developments. Unfortunately, this attempt did not earn him a promotion.
In turn, his teammates, that is, Alexander Znischol and Pavel Vonsek, immediately secured access to tomorrow’s first competitive series. The Polish representatives jumped 124.5 meters and 120 meters, which allowed them to breathe a sigh of relief and start preparing for the competition.
Kamil Stoch is gone! Petr Zhyla failed again
The next Pole was Kamil Stoch, showing solid form. The Zub champion proved it with his 138.5m jump in Wednesday’s prologue. Moreover, one of the judges liked the jump of the three-time Olympic champion so much that he even received a 20-point mark. Shortly after this jump, Borek Sedlak decided to lower the traverse by one degree, and then, due to the wind, by two more. Piotr Zhyla jumped only 119 meters and qualified for tomorrow’s competition with a ribbon throw. David Kubacki flew 131 meters, which gave him a high qualification.
In the prologue of Wednesday, Anže Lanisek won with a jump of 137 meters. Halvor Egner Granerud, who landed at 135 meters, was second. Timi Seitz finished third with the longest jump in this prologue. The Slovenian had very good conditions and flew as much as 144 meters. At the final stage of the flight, the participant had to save himself.
Right behind the podium were Kamil Stoch, David Kubatsky took seventh place, Alexander Zniszol took 28th place. Piotr Zhyla finished 40th and Pawel Vansek 43rd. Unfortunately Jakub Wolny finished 52nd and we won’t see him in tomorrow’s competition.
