On Sunday, March 5, in Istanbul (Turkey), the European Athletics Indoor Championships, where Ukraine won bronze earlier, will finish.
Our team, consisting of the best athlete of Ukraine in 2022, the current European champion Yaroslava Maguchy, Yulia Levchenko and Kateryna Tabashnik, made it to the finals of the women’s high jump in full force.
Maguchy’s favorite confirmed her status. Having overcome all the heights on the first attempt, the 21-year-old beauty from Dnipro was ahead of Brit Werman from the Netherlands (196 cm) in the fight for gold with a result of 198 cm and again became the European indoor champion. Already in the status of the winner, the Ukrainian could not overcome the bar at a height of 203 cm and improve her best result of the season in the world.
It is gratifying that the “bronze” of the European Championship for the first time in her career was won by the Kharkiv resident Tabashnik (194 cm).
Unfortunately, Levchenko from Kiev with the same result (but with more attempts) finished only fifth.
Note that Maguchy was on the verge of failure in qualifying. Having missed the heights of 176 cm and 182 cm, Yaroslava failed two attempts at 187 cm. And only, having transferred the remaining one attempt to a height of 191 cm, the beauty from the Dnieper overcame the bar and failed to break into the final.
Earlier, FACTS reported that Yaroslava Maguchy won six tournaments in a row at the start of 2023.
