The clash between Magda Linette and Lucia Bronzetti, played within the framework of the quarter-final Poland - Italy in the United Cup, was from the series “to be or not to be” in the context of White’s further game. -and-reds in this edition of the tournament. Luckily for us, the 31-year-old has done a great job.
The morning of December 4, 2023 was very busy for Polish tennis players and their fans. From early morning (our time) rivalry flared up in the match between Poland and Italy. However, everything did not go according to the plan of the white-reds. So when Magda Lynette went to court with Lucia Bronzetti, there was a lot of pressure on her.

The rivalry with Italy began with the meeting between Damian Michalski and Lorenzo Musetti. Unfortunately, this was not a successful performance by the Pole, who was easily beaten. His opponent won 2-0 and both games were 6-1. Iga Sviontek, on the contrary, performed as expected, although she did not avoid problems. Martina Trevisan created problems, especially in the second half of the meeting. As a result, however, the first racket of the WTA rating won with a score of 2:0 (6:2 and 6:4).
After them, Hubert Gurkacz entered the court. He had a difficult opponent, because he competed with Matteo Berrettini. Their duel was fairly even, although it must be admitted that the Wroclaw native cheered up the fans by winning the second set 6-3 in spectacular style. Unfortunately, he did not cope with a draw result in the war of nerves. In the last set, Italy dominated him and won 2:1 (6:4, 3:6 and 6:3).

That is why the position of Magda Lynette was unenviable. However, she performed well in the first set. True, Bronzetti won the first game, but then the Pole dominated. On her serve, she won 86% of the games, used two break points and scored 6/6 “points” at the net. She rarely made unforced errors. As a result, she won the first set with a score of 6:1.
The 24-year-old from Rimini was also unsuccessful in the second set, lost the first game to zero and allowed the Pole to make a break. In the third, she had a moment when she went to the next level and won it, but then she again abandoned the initiative. Our compatriot was good at backhands, good at kickbacks, so at some point she took the lead 4:1. She never gave up this advantage. Lynette won the entire clash with a score of 2:0 (6:1 and 6:2), thanks to which we reached a 2:2 draw in the Poland-Italy match. The competition will be decided by a mixed match.
