He wanted to help him, Adam Nawalka, with whom the late footballer had known since they played together at Wisla Krakow. When the former Polish breeder became the coach of the White Star, he made Ivan his assistant.
“He did a great job with Adam Navalka. He felt at ease and judged players very accurately, quickly testing their skills. He was well versed in opponents, so he helped Adam a lot in determining tactics for matches. If not for alcohol, he could have created a coaching duo with him for many years to come. Moreover, Adam tried to distract him from the party company, - said Marek Motyka.
Andrzej Ivan could not live without alcohol
The former football player admitted that he repeatedly asked a friend why he came to training in a state of intoxication. Andrzej Ivan reportedly replied that he could not live without him.
“Unfortunately, Andrei could not refuse. And when working with players, you need to be fresh, fragrant, shaved. I asked him many times if he could stay sober. He replied: Marsyas, I love him, I can’t live without alcohol. We all tried to get him out of it, but no one could.
